I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in psychopharmacology for almost thirty years. I have been on the faculty of Columbia University School of Medicine where I trained residents in diagnosis and treatment for more than twenty years. I attended University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and earned the Appel Award in Psychiatry.

I completed my residency at Yale University where I was Chief Resident of the Research Unit. I helped to found Holliswood Hospital in Queens and served as Medical Director before starting my outpatient practice.

When I was Chief Resident of the research unit at Yale University, I evaluated and treated desperate people coming from all parts of the country, looking for a cure.

They had all failed to respond to many trials of medication in their home towns. Nevertheless, most left the unit substantially improved on the medications commonly prescribed at that time, despite the fact that thirty years ago there were few medications available, far fewer than today.

Often without knowing, they had never been given an adequate trial of any medication or had received an inaccurate diagnoses and the wrong treatment. Even today, a careful evaluation often leads to a cure, even in treatment resistant patients.
